Comprehensive Hearing Examination
A comprehensive hearing test gives us an accurate picture of your current hearing ability, including any areas where you might have difficulty. We administer a battery of hearing tests, all of which are completely painless. If you do have hearing loss that indicates a need for hearing aids, we will recommend them after your hearing test.
Regular hearing tests can also help you catch minor hearing loss before it becomes an issue. This allows you to make the necessary adjustments in your lifestyle or hearing protection to ensure that you minimize further hearing loss going forward.
The Better Hearing Institute, a non-profit, advises that everyone get a hearing test at least once every decade until age 50, and once every three years after that. Those in high-risk professions or who have a higher risk of hearing loss due to their medical history should be tested even more frequently.
Hearing Aid Fitting
Whether you purchase hearing aids from us or already have a set that you purchased elsewhere, we can help you make sure your hearing aids are properly fitted. Fitment involves programming the computers in your hearing aids to match the needs of your individual hearing loss, as well as making custom earmolds if necessary.
You may need new earmolds if you lose or gain a lot of weight after getting your hearing aids. Either of these changes can change the shape of your ear canal such that “whistling” (feedback) can become an issue.
You may also need a new fitment if your hearing loss profile changes over time, which is common. If you’ve been wearing your hearing aids for a few years without an adjustment, a new hearing test might indicate a need to change the programming.
Hearing Aid Repair
Modern hearing aids are robust devices, and we offer premium hearing aids from the best manufacturers in the industry. Still, hearing aids spend most of their time in and around our ears, where moisture and environmental debris can take their toll, over time. It is common for most hearing aids to require a repair at some point in their lifespan.
We offer repairs in-house, which can usually be completed the same day you bring your hearing aids into the office. Some repairs may require us to return your hearing aids to the manufacturer, which can increase the time you spend without your hearing aids up to around 10 days.
